Italy history

Rome was founded as a Kingdom in 7BC and became a Republic in 5BC, when the monarchy was overthrown in favor of a government of the Senate and the People. When the empire fell, a series of barbarian kingdoms initially ruled the peninsula, but, after the Lombard invasion of 568–56 a network of smaller political entities arose throughout Italy. Italy Becomes a Unified Peninsula. A love of music, art, good food and great wine is born into every native, and the enjoyment of life’s finer things is compulsory. Later, the Phoenicians would do the same. It’s also the fifth most populous country in Europe.

Vatican City in Rome is the smallest country in the world and is led by the Pope himself. Tuscany, region, west-central Italy. The major city in the region is Florence. Venice was the European end of the Silk Road trade route which moved goods all the way from China, and consequently was a cosmopolitan city, a true melting pot.
