A recent commit in docker toolbox breaks this. Two changes in this commit are problematic. They no longer hard-code the docker toolbox and docker -machine. It is named Data Pulley.

The docker daemon binds to a Unix socket instead of a TCP port. By default that Unix socket is owned by the user root and other users can only access it using sudo. If you don’t want to use sudo when you use the docker comman create a Unix group called docker and add users to it. Instea it uses what is called a docker -machine to create a virtual machine (VM) on VirtualBox.

Normally, docker containers are run using the user root. But this user should be able to use sudo inside the container. This command is missing. Double click on the installer file. Click on Next and Browse the installation path on the next dialogue box.

Now, to setup a basic ubuntu container with a bash shell, we just run one command. In windows I used docker toolbox. Select the machine (in my case default). Right clicked and select settings option.

Go to Shared Folders. Include a new machine folder. Building and deploying new applications is faster with containers.
